Is a declaration (Iqrar) revocable?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Acknowledgment of Rights
Primary text
A declaration is generally not revocable. However, if the declaration concerns a Hadd punishment prescribed by God, revocation is accepted because such punishments must be defended against by invoking doubts (Shubuhat) to facilitate their dismissal.
Supporting text
The text implies that revocation is not accepted for rights belonging to human beings or rights belonging to God that are not dismissed by doubts, such as Zakat (obligatory charity) and Kaffarat (expiations). There is no known disagreement on this point.
