According to Al-Qadi, the exception remains valid. The thousand can be interpreted as any item, provided that the value of that item, after subtracting the fifty dirhams, corresponds to the remaining liability. The validity of the exception is maintained even if the interpretation of the principal amount changes, as long as the value calculation holds true.
