Among the followers of Al-Shafi'i, there are two differing opinions on whether the acknowledging heir must pay the acknowledged person their rightful share when the acknowledgment is truthful only in the relationship between them and God (Allah). The sounder opinion dictates that payment is obligatory.

Within this sounder opinion, there are two further views regarding the exact amount: whether the obligation is to pay half of what is in the hand of the acknowledging heir or one-third of it.
