What is the legal status of a second agent appointed by an agent when the principal granted permission for the appointment?

Book of Agency
Primary text
When the principal permits the agent to appoint another agent (the second agent), the second agent becomes a direct agent of the original principal. This second agent is not dismissed by the death or dismissal of the first agent, nor can the first agent dismiss the second, as the second is not the first agent's agent. The legal basis is that the authority flows directly from the principal.
