What is the validity of an agent purchasing the whole item when authorized only to purchase half?

If the principal states, 'Buy half of it for me for one hundred,' and the agent buys the whole item or more than half for one hundred, the transaction is valid because custom implicitly grants permission for purchasing quantities exceeding the specified half.
