General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of the Apostate
Primary text
If the apostate is executed or dies while adhering to apostasy, his estate must first be used to settle his debts, cover the indemnity (*arsh*) for any injury he caused, and provide for the maintenance of his wife and relatives. These rights must not be neglected. Whatever remains of his property is considered spoils of war (*fay'*) and is deposited into the public treasury (Bayt al-Mal).
