Is repentance possible for one who practiced sorcery?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of the Apostate
Primary text
A case narrated by Aisha concerning a woman who practiced magic by visiting Harut and Marut and performing an act of desecration involving urination into a hearth resulted in the perceived departure of her faith like an armored horse flying away. Upon seeking repentance from the Companions, only Ibn Abbas advised her to honor her living parents (if any) and perform abundant good deeds as much as possible.
Supporting text
Many Companions disagreed with Aisha's position (regarding the implications of the woman's sin). It is possible that the woman whose case Aisha mentioned repented, thereby nullifying the judgment of execution and disbelief.
