What is the ruling on claiming prophethood?

Claiming prophethood constitutes apostasy (Riddah). This ruling is established by the historical precedent concerning Musaylimah who claimed prophethood, and those who believed him became apostates. The same ruling applies to those who believed Talihah al-Asadi when he claimed prophethood.
