The difference of opinion among the Imams pertains only to the acceptance of their repentance in the outward rulings of this world, specifically concerning the cessation of their prescribed punishment (killing) and the affirmation of Islamic ordinances in their favor. There is no disagreement that Allah accepts their repentance in the hidden state (Al-Batin) and forgives those who cease outwardly and inwardly, based on the verse concerning hypocrites: "Except for those who repent, rectify themselves, hold fast to Allah, and purify their religion for Allah. Then those will be with the believers, and Allah will give the believers a great reward" (Quran 4:146).
