Is there a distinction between a confession to disbelief followed by denial, and apostasy established by testimony followed by denial?

Primary text
If a person initially confesses to disbelief and then denies it, the ruling might align with the case of established apostasy. However, a distinction exists: If the punishment (Hadd) was necessitated by the person's own statement (confession), their retraction of that statement is accepted. If the matter was established by evidence (Bayyinah), their denial is not accepted. This is analogous to the ruling regarding Zina: if it is established by the accused's own statement and then retracted, the punishment is waived; if it is established by witnesses (Bayyinah), the retraction is not accepted.
