Does the debtor's guarantor (Dhamin) become absolved if the creditor absolves the principal debtor (Madmun 'anhu)?

The guarantor's obligation is absolved if the creditor absolves the principal debtor. This is without known scholarly dispute because the guarantee is a consequence or subsidiary obligation (taba'), and also a security (wathiqah). When the original obligation is absolved, the security is removed, similar to a mortgage.
