Chapter on Guarantee (Daman)

Primary text
If the guarantee was made with the guaranteed person's permission, the guarantor is obligated to bring him forth if requested, because the guarantor has tied his liability for the guaranteed person's sake with his permission, thus bearing the responsibility of discharging that liability. This is similar to someone who borrows another's slave and mortgages him with permission; he must redeem him when the owner demands him.
