Primary text

When the slave earns a lesser amount than his value, the division is calculated based on the total number of shares derived from the manumitted part, the inherited part, and the earnings. If the slave's value is one hundred and he earns nine, the total shares are three hundred and nine. The freed portion is one hundred and nine parts, and the slave is entitled to nine parts of the earnings, while the heirs receive two hundred parts of the slave and two hundred parts of the earnings, divided proportionally.
