The gift or manumission executed by a sick person remains valid even if the person subsequently confesses to owing a debt. This position is explicitly stated by Ahmad, concerning one who manumitted his slave during his illness and later acknowledged a debt. The manumission stands, and the slave is not returned to servitude. This is because the right arising from the gift or manumission is established outwardly, and therefore, the subsequent confession cannot be accepted if it invalidates the right established for another party.
