Primary text

If the son of the manumitted slave dies before the master, the master inherits from the son if the son was a son of the one who freed him. This occurs because it is established the father died free due to the master possessing twenty, which equaled his value, thus effecting his manumission and transferring the *Walaa* of the son to the master. If the son was not a son of the specific master who freed the father, the *Walaa* does not transfer, and the father's master does not inherit.

Supporting text

The same ruling applies if this son leaves twenty without the father leaving anything, or if the master acquires twenty from any source. If the master does not possess twenty, the son's *Walaa* does not transfer because the father was not fully manumitted. If only part of the father was freed, the son's *Walaa* transfers proportionally to the extent of the father's freedom.
