Primary text

If the bequests exceed one-third of the estate and the heirs reject the excess, the one-third is divided among all legatees proportionally to the value of their respective bequests. The deficiency is applied to each legatee proportionally to their share, similar to how excess claims are handled in inheritance ('Awl). For example, if the total bequests aggregate to 300, and the estate is worth 100, each bequest receives one-third of its stated value.
