How is the refusal (Radd) of a bequest (Wasiyya) formally achieved?

The refusal of a bequest is achieved by saying, "I have rejected the bequest" (Raddadtu al-wasiyya), or "I do not accept it" (La aqbaluha), or any phrase conveying the same meaning. If the legatee dies before acceptance or refusal, and after the testator, Ahmad stated that the bequest goes to the heirs of the testator if the legatee had stated, "I do not accept it."
