Primary text

If the first slave manumitted has a value of twenty and the second a value of ten, and both earn their values, the first slave's full manumission may be completed. The division of the two slaves and their earnings is made based on four components (the two slaves and their two earnings). Each component receives fifteen parts (three-quarters of the total). Consequently, a certain portion of the first slave is freed, and he receives three-quarters of his earnings, with the remainder going to the heirs.

Supporting text

If the manumission begins with the slave of lesser value, that slave is fully freed, and he takes his earnings. The heirs are entitled to the equivalent of the freed slave's value from the second slave and his earnings. The remainder of the second slave and his earnings is then split equally between the heirs and the second slave's manumission portion.
