Is the consumption of *Faqqa'* (a type of non-intoxicating barley drink) permissible?

The consumption of *Faqqa'* (barley drink) is permissible. This view is held by Ishaq and Ibn al-Mundhir. There is no known disagreement on this matter because *Faqqa'* does not cause intoxication, and if left alone, it spoils. This contrasts with *Khamr* (intoxicants). The default state of things is permissibility unless there is clear evidence of prohibition.
