If the intoxicant is mixed with something that truly quenches thirst, it is permissible to drink it out of necessity to overcome thirst, similar to how carrion becomes permissible during severe hunger (*makhmaseh*). The narrative concerning Abdullah bin Hudhaifah, who was held captive by the Romans and given water mixed with wine and pork, demonstrates that while he initially refused over three days, he affirmed upon his release that had he faced death, Allah would have permitted it for him due to necessity, though he maintained he would not rejoice the enemy by abandoning Islam.
