The term 'nafsh' mentioned in the Quranic verse refers specifically to grazing by night. This concept applies to cultivated land (harth) which animals naturally tend to destroy by grazing, making the owner liable in that specific context. Therefore, it is incorrect to extend this ruling (qiyas) by analogy to damages caused to other types of property.
