Primary text

The use of silver for the pommel of a sword is permissible. This is supported by the narration from Anas, who stated that the pommel of the Messenger of Allah's sword was silver. Al-Athram, Abu Dawud, and Al-Tirmidhi narrated this, with Al-Tirmidhi grading it as *Hasan* (good). Furthermore, Hisham ibn Urwah confirmed that Al-Zubayr's sword was inlaid with silver, which he personally witnessed.
