What is the liability when two slaves collide and both perish?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Beverages (Intoxicants)
Primary text
The value of both slaves is considered waste (*hadr*), because the value of each was tied to the life of the other, and that relation is voided by their mutual demise. If only one dies, the value of the deceased slave becomes incumbent upon the life of the surviving slave. If the surviving slave perishes before the value is compensated, the claim is dropped due to the loss of its object.
