Primary text

The owner of a cat that eats people's chicks is liable for the damage it causes, similar to the liability for a biting dog. This liability applies regardless of whether the damage occurs during the day or at night.

Supporting text

If the cat has no established habit of eating chicks, the owner is not liable for its transgression, just as the owner of a dog is not liable if the dog is not a biting dog ('aqoor).
