What is the ruling on consuming a small amount of a substance of which a large amount causes intoxication?

If a substance's large quantity leads to intoxication, then even a small quantity of it is forbidden (*haram*). This rule applies irrespective of whether two-thirds of the original substance has evaporated or less or more.
