Primary text
The use of gold is not permissible in ornamentation except in exceptional necessity, such as filling a missing tooth (gold implant) or using it to secure a loose tooth. The only exception mentioned for non-necessary use is the ornamentation of a sword, for which there are reports indicating permissibility. It is reported that Umar possessed a sword inlaid with gold, and the Prophet, peace be upon him, entered on the Day of the Conquest with a sword bearing gold and silver.

Abu Bakr permitted a small amount of gold, drawing an analogy to silver because gold is one of the two standard mediums of exchange, thus resembling silver.
