Primary text

The adherent, who lacks a tribal affiliation (Ashirah) and joins himself to another tribe, is not liable for blood money. This is the view of Al-Shafi'i, derived from the fact that Diyya pertains exclusively to the agnates (Asabah), a condition not met by the adherent.

Supporting text

Abu Hanifa asserts that the adherent is liable for blood money and inherits. Malik stipulates that if a person is not with his own kin, his liability for blood money is borne by the group he is associated with.
