Primary text

The ally, who enters into a pact of mutual support against injustice and for defense against any aggressor, is not liable for blood money. This position is affirmed by Al-Shafi'i, based on the principle that liability relates only to the agnates (Asabah).

Supporting text

Abu Hanifa maintains that the ally is liable for blood money and inherits. Malik mandates that if a man is outside his kin group, his liability falls upon the group with whom he is affiliated.
