Primary text

If injury causes both the loss of speech and the loss of taste in a speaking person, two separate *diyahs* are due.

Supporting text

If the tongue is severed, causing both speech and taste to be lost simultaneously, only one *diyah* is due because the loss of these faculties follows the loss of the physical organ, similar to when a person is killed, only one *diyah* is incumbent.
