What is the compensation for an injury that prevents the complete swallowing of saliva?
Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
If an injury reaches the degree where the injured person cannot swallow their own saliva, and yet they survive, the compensation due is the full *diyah* (blood money). This is because the injury results in the loss of a utility (the ability to swallow saliva) that has no equivalent in the body.
