What is the compensation if two separate injuries affect the speech sequentially?

Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds

Al-Mughni

Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)

Book 48 · Issue 6 · Bab 2

Open in Qurani

Primary text

If an initial injury removes some letters, and a subsequent injury removes the remaining portion of the speech, each injurer is liable for their proportional share of the *Diyah*, analogous to one person blinding one eye and another person blinding the other.

Supporting text

If a second injurer completely destroys the speech of a person whose speech was already partially damaged by a first injurer, the second injurer owes the full *Diyah*, similar to a case where one person causes cloudiness in an eye, and another causes total blindness.
