What happens to the compensation if a child's newly erupted tooth that was damaged does not regrow before the child dies?
Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
If the child dies before despair sets in regarding the regrowth of the tooth, there are two views. One view holds that nothing is due, based on the likelihood that the tooth would have regrown had the child lived, paralleling the plucking of hair. The second view mandates the diya, as a tooth was pulled, and the time for regrowth has passed, making it like the adult's tooth that failed to return.
