If the mother dies after the expulsion of the first fetus (whether dead or alive) but before the second fetus is expelled, the *diyah* of the first fetus is inherited by the mother and the second fetus. Upon the mother's subsequent death, the second fetus inherits from her, and then the second fetus's heirs inherit from him.
