If the mother dies before the fetus is expelled, and the fetus is expelled dead, neither party inherits from the other. If the fetus is expelled alive and then dies before the mother, and the mother subsequently dies, the mother inherits the fetus's share of the *diyah*, and then the mother's heirs inherit from her.
