Primary text

According to one position held by Ahmad and Ishaq, the partition (Watrah) between the nostrils incurs one-third of the Diyah, and the severance of the cavity itself (Khurmah) in each nostril entails one-third for each, leading to two-thirds for the nostrils and one-third for the partition.

Supporting text

Under the alternative view where both nostrils incur full Diyah, the partition incurs a discretionary assessment (Hukumat). Furthermore, if only a part of the partition is severed, whether less or more than half, the compensation remains a discretionary assessment (Hukumat), not exceeding the full amount due for the partition under the first view. If the partition between the two nostrils is split, the compensation is a discretionary assessment, and if the resulting gap remains wide (Manfaraj), the assessment is greater.
