What is the legal status of a slave who commits an offense when the master subsequently emancipates him?

Primary text
When a master emancipates a slave who has committed an offense (*jānī*), the slave is freed (*‘itiq*). However, the master remains liable for the compensation (*arsh*) due for the injury caused by the slave. This liability stems from the master destroying the object of the offense (the slave) upon the person to whom the right belongs, necessitating compensation, similar to the case of the master killing the slave.
