Liability for killing a person when a non-Muslim hunter converts to Islam after shooting an arrow that subsequently kills a human.
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
The Muslims shall not pay the blood money (*diya*) for the killing. This is because the individual was not a Muslim at the time of shooting the arrow. Similarly, those under covenant (*mu'ahadun*) shall not pay, as the killing occurred while he was a Muslim. Therefore, the liability falls upon the perpetrator's own estate. This ruling is based on the status of the individual at the time of the injurious act and the subsequent status at the time of death.
