What is the liability when one person inflicts a penetrating wound and another enlarges it?
Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
If one man inflicts a penetrating wound and another enlarges it, each perpetrator owes the partial indemnity (arsh) for a penetrating wound. This is because the act of one person's injury does not become contingent upon or superseded by the act of another.
Supporting text
If a physician enlarges the wound by the permission of the injured person or his guardian for the purpose of healing, there is no liability upon the physician.
