If an equal portion of the tongue is severed, resulting in the loss of an equal portion of speech, the liability is the corresponding fraction of the full blood-money (Diyah). This is analogous to the loss of sight from severing one eye. Both the physical member (tongue) and the function (speech) are individually liable for the full Diyah.
