What is the prescribed compensation for the loss of function of paired organs?
Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
If the function of a pair of organs is lost, such as the ability to see in both eyes, a full Diyyah is due, just as it is due for the total loss of function in both hands. Consequently, the loss of function in one eye warrants half the Diyyah, mirroring the compensation for incapacitating one hand.
