Is the prescribed compensation for a *Mūḍiḥah* dependent on the size or visibility of the wound on the head or face?
Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
The *arsh* of the *Mūḍiḥah* must be paid regardless of whether the person is young or old, or whether the wound is exposed or covered by hair, because the term *Mūḍiḥah* encompasses all of these types. The limit defining a *Mūḍiḥah* is any penetration reaching the bone, even if only the depth of a needle. If a single blow causes a wound that is partly a *Mūḍiḥah* and partly less than a *Mūḍiḥah*, only the *arsh* of the *Mūḍiḥah* is required. Similarly, if a wound is partly a *Ḥāshimah* and partly less, only the *arsh* of the *Ḥāshimah* is due, and likewise for a *Muniqqilah* or *Ma'mūmah* if any part falls under those severities.
