What is the recourse if there is a dispute regarding the loss of sight?
Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds

Primary text
If there is a dispute concerning the loss of sight, the matter must be referred to two just, expert Muslim witnesses. Their judgment is accepted because they possess a means of verification by observing the eye, which is the site of sight, and assessing its condition, unlike in cases concerning hearing. If expert witnesses cannot be found or verification is impossible through them, one must assess the condition by exposing the eye to sunlight and bringing an object close to the eye when the victim is unobservant. If the victim flinches or shows fear of the threat, the victim is deemed a liar; otherwise, the claim is upheld.
