Open in Qurani

Primary text

The *Diyya* for specific body parts is equivalent to the full *Diyya* for a human life. If the required payment is specified in gold or silver, the amount is fixed whether the injury was intentional (*amd*) or accidental (*khata*). If the payment is due in camels, intentional injury requires either four quarters of the full amount based on one narration, or specifically five and one-tenth camels consisting of *huqqan* (pregnant she-camels), five and one-tenth *jidh'an* (yearling camels), and five and one-tenth *khalfat* (camels in the tenth month of pregnancy) based on another narration. For accidental injury when payable in camels, the requirement is five portions (*akhmasan*).

Supporting text

If a specific part cannot be compensated according to the established camel portions (e.g., if the injury mandates four quarters intentionally), then four quarters must be paid, and the fifth portion must be one of the four camel types, valued at one-quarter of the value of the four portions. Under the second narration for intentional injury, two *khalfatan*, one *huqqah*, and one *jidh'ah* are due, plus a camel whose value is half the value of a *huqqah* plus half the value of a *jidh'ah*. If accidental, the payment is five portions, one camel from each of the five types.
