What is the required expiation for mistakenly killing a Muslim combatant?

The obligation incumbent upon the perpetrator for mistakenly killing a Muslim in the aforementioned circumstances is the freeing of a believing slave, as explicitly stated in the divine ordinance: {But if he was of a people with whom you have a treaty, then [there is due] the freeing of a believing slave} (Quran 4:92).
