What is the ruling if a foreign object (another tooth, animal bone, or human bone) is placed in the socket where the original tooth was, and it takes root?
Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
If another person's tooth, an animal's tooth, or a bone is placed in the socket and successfully takes root, the full compensation (diyah) for its removal is obligatory, universally agreed upon. This is because the person's original tooth was entirely lost, mandating its full value, identical to the case where nothing was placed in the socket.
Supporting text
If this second implanted object is subsequently pulled out, its full *diyah* is not due because it is not inherently the person's tooth nor a part of their natural body. However, a *hukumat* is due because the act removed his beauty and utility, analogous to cutting a thread holding a wound together, causing it to reopen. An alternative view suggests nothing is due, as what was removed was not part of his original body, similar to removing a golden nose replacement from an individual who lost their nose.
