Primary text

If a person loses one letter and substitutes another in its place, such as saying 'Dalham' instead of 'Dirham', the injurer is liable only for the compensation of the lost letter. This is because the substituted letter does not functionally replace the lost one in reading or other functions. If a subsequent injury destroys the substituted letter, compensation is due for that letter as well, since it has become the primary articulation.
