What is the ruling if the nose is completely severed after an initial injury, leaving only a piece of skin attached, and further cutting is necessary?
Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
If the nose is severed except for a piece of skin to which it remains hanging, and cutting the remaining part becomes necessary, the penalty is the full *diya*. This is because the entirety of the nose was severed, partially by the initial direct act and partially by causation, resembling a situation where an initial partial severing leads to the complete severing.
