What is the ruling when an one-eyed person removes the eye of a sound-eyed person by mistake?
Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
If an one-eyed person removes the eye of a sound-eyed person mistakenly, or removes an eye that does not match the remaining eye (i.e., removes the sound eye when the other is already impaired), only half the blood-money is due. This position has no known dissenting opinion among the scholars, as it represents the established principle in this matter.
