Primary text

If a *mudghah* is expelled and trustworthy midwives testify that it contains a hidden human form, the *ghurrah* is due. If they testify that it is the beginning of human creation that would have taken shape if left, there are two views. The more authoritative view is that nothing is due because it has not taken shape, thus not incurring liability, similar to an *alaqah* (clot), and the principle of acquittal from doubt prevails. If a *nutfa* (seminal drop) is expelled, nothing is due because its status as a fetus is unknown.

The second view holds that the *ghurrah* is due because it is the commencement of human creation, analogous to a formed fetus. However, this second view is refuted by the principle established for the *nutfa* and *alaqah*.
