Chapter on Diyat (Blood Money) for Wounds
Al-Mughni
Book of Blood-Money (Diyyāt)
Primary text
The ruling concerning two feet on one leg follows the same established principles as those concerning two hands on one arm.
Supporting text
If one foot is longer than the other, it is considered the principal one if its length matches the other leg, or if it exceeds it while the other matches the length of a normal leg. If there are two feet on each leg and the person can walk straight using the longer pair, those are principal. If not, and they can walk with the shorter pair after severing the longer ones, the shorter pair is principal, and the longer ones are extra. If the longer pair is paralyzed, their *diya* is due, as they are presumed principal; however, if severing the other pair allows walking, the shorter pair is confirmed as principal. If walking is not possible with the shorter pair, the longer ones are principal.
